From Alayne L-N, Physiotherapist in Montreal, and student of Radiant Child Yoga for Children with ADHD/Autism, and those who are are Differently-Abled:

G.O.”  In particular, the “E” for Empower… trying not to change the child/parent, but to empower the child/parent to be who they are and do what they do best.

This shift to a strengths-based frame of mind has found me well, and changed how I approach my physiotherapy assessments, recommendations, and reports. Allison also spoke of holding the light for the child – not to worry about their home/personal situations, and reiterating Shakta’s saying that worrying is negative energy, like praying for what you don’t want.

Inside me, I’ve noticed what Shakta and Allison spoke of as a Core Paradigm Shift… not focusing on what’s wrong or what I need to fix and how to fix it (the health care/physiotherapy philosophy and mindset). but rather being solution-focused.  In my work this translates to finding accommodations/strategies to support the child/family/teacher where they’re at, and to focus instead on what a child can do – and wants to do– versus what they cannot do but what I/others want them to do.”
