Nothing to miss, Everything to enjoy

Hope you don’t mind a few posts about food….that’s where my brain is these past few days.  You might be thinking “Ok, she’s thinking about all the food she can’t have on this 10 day cleanse.”  But you would be wrong.  I don’t have time to think about that.  I am so busy making Liver Flush cleanse drinks (certainly does feel like a flush, or a rush, when drinking the citrus mixed with garlic, cayenne, olive oil, ginger), buying green vegies for the next three days–greens only–and then….enjoying the fresh, luscious creations I am making.  Here’s one I made the other day.  Enjoy.  And if you want to start the cleanse, you can get 10% off using the Radiant Child code on www.thecleanse.com.

Red Quinoa with Sweet Potato Cubes

Cook quinoa in water, 2:1

Add dice-sized cubes of sweet potato (Trader Joe’s has sw. potato in shape of fries, easy to cut)

Cook with sm amount Celtic Sea Salt for 15-20 min.

Meanwhile…

Cashew Pesto

soak raw cashews for at least 2 hours, put in food processor with:

fresh basil, garlic, onion, salt, olive oil

Add to Quinoa dish to taste.

(Quick nutritional facts:  Quinoa is a super-grain, high in usable protein, soaked nuts are easier to digest, onion and garlic are for cleansing and purifying)

    Shakta, i am always so happy to have you participate in the cleanse programs that we offer. I want to also comment that red quinoa has some iron content due to it’s color. It is warmer than regular quinoa also so great for Vata and Kapha doshas. just like red onions have more iron in them than regular yellow onions and are also warmer. In these last cold months before we enter summer (Pitta season), Vata and Kapha doshas may still feel cool so while cleansing we recommend warming food. This recipe that Shakta made with sweet potato is a great warm meal and perfect for Vata. you can also drink warming ginger tea to keep digestive fire enlivened.
