Our current course schedule can be accessed from this link:
http://www.childrensyoga.com/Workshops/ShaktasSchedule.htm. Our schedule is generally set eight months to a year in advance. From time to time additional courses are added.
Courses are sponsored by a variety of people, including yoga centers and those interested in bringing yoga to children. It is therefore very important to view the flyer for the course you are interested in attending.
All the information that you need is on the flyer including the course costs, early registration discount deadlines, the course date and location, and a way to contact the sponsor for additional information. When you find a location that works best for you, just click the flyer link.
If you don’t see a course that works for your schedule, we can add you to our monthly newsletter mailing list. The newsletter provides course dates as well as additional information about the program and other courses Shakta teaches.
A: The fees for the course vary very slightly from location to location, so you need to check the course flyer for the exact cost. When you attend the course you receive a Radiant Child Yoga tote bag filled with take home materials including Shakta’s:
You can take the Level 2 course by itself, but there are so many wonderful ”upgrades” to the program that we encourage you to take the combined Level 1 and Level 2 course again. You will receive a reviewer's discount, which will be determined by the amount of materials you already own. You can contact us at info@childrensyoga.com to find out more information about the reviewer’s discount.
You are also welcome to opt for the level 2 course only. Please contact us at the aforementioned email to determine your cost for attending a “Level 2 only” course.
Level 3 (Heart & Soul) is unique. It is open to all, whether they want to take RCYP 1-2 or not. The Heart and Soul work with Children course focuses on deepening your relationship with yourself and with children. So you can take this course without ever taking RCYP 1-2, or you can take the Level 3 course before or after taking Level 1-2. If you do take the courses in this order (Level 3 before Level 1 and 2) we will provide you with an updated certificate retroactively. You must request the new certificate by contacting us at info@childrensyoga.com.
Discounts are offered for groups of four or more. Contact us at info@childrensyoga.com to discuss the amount of your discount.
Most people comment that Level 2 gave them the means to put into practice all that they learned in Level 1 and that it “brought it all together” for them. Level 1 grows deeper with level 2. People feel they gain confidence to go out and teach after level 2 because they get a chance to actually come up with a class and teach it as a team. As of 2008, Level 1 and 2 are taught together in a 20-hour weekend course.
This is a training course for anyone (including those with no yoga experience) to be able to begin or continue to teach children yoga. It comes with a certificate of course completion. A person who takes the course is not “certified”. They have taken a 20 to 30-hour training course and receive a certificate as verification of their training.
Most organizations that people wish to teach with are satisfied knowing that you have attended this type of course.
A person who has no yoga experience would do well to begin to take classes at the same time they are sharing what they’ve learned in this class. If the person has yoga experience but no certification with a yoga school, they may certainly share what they’ve learned in the Radiant Child training program with children in schools, fitness and yoga centers, or any venue. The decision of whether or not to hire a children’s yoga teacher with or without yoga certification (for teaching adults) rests entirely with the employer/school administration.
Yes. We have worked with them closely to ensure that our courses meet their certification criteria.
Continuing Education Credits (CEU’s) are very discipline specific. You will need to check with the professional organization within your specialty (i.e. Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy or education, etc.)
Most professional organizations have a specific form that we are willing complete to explain the topics covered during our course. In the past, we have been able to help our course participants in several disciplines receive Continuing Education Credits (CEU’s). In fact, everytime RCYP was submitted for approval for public school CEUs, it was approved. Please contact us at info@childrensyoga.com for further assistance in this area.
If you did not receive a certificate, we can mail one to you. Please provide the following information:
You do not need anything but a desire to teach children (some yoga experience is helpful) in order to come to any of the RCYP courses. When you begin to use your training and set up children's yoga classes, most places will want to know you have yoga experience, some may want you to be a certified teacher for adult yoga, although that is mostly not the case. At the end of the weekend, you will have a certificate of completion for the course hours. Liability insurance is recommended for teaching both children and adults. We cover that information at the course.

US orders should arrive within 3 business days, international orders take 5-10 business days to arrive. Sometimes international orders take a few days longer as they must be processed through customs. If you have questions about an order or do not receive it as noted above, please contact us at info@childrensyoga.com.
Currently several mini-classes are available at http://www.yogaspirit.ca/product_info.php?from=arch&products_id=77. They are designed to provide information about a variety of children’s yoga topics. They are each one hour long, and while they are helpful, especially for those who cannot attend a course in person, they do not qualify for a certificate of RCYP course completion.
